Saint Paul Magazine

For years, Uptown Minneapolis enjoyed the distinction of being the only home to the French Meadow Bakery and Café, forcing Saint Paul residents craving organic, local dishes to jump across the river. But in 2014, many wishes were granted when its second Twin Cities location opened on Grand Avenue near Macalester College.

The extensive, eco-friendly menu changes daily, consistently offering delicious new omelets and fresh lunch and dinner dishes.

Now more than a year old and firmly entrenched on Grand Avenue, French Meadow Bakery & Cafe offers a menu that emphasizes fresh, healthy and affordable food.

Encourage Her Network

A true nutritional pioneer, Lynn – who is also a certified macrobiotics teacher – has been actively advocating the benefits of a clean diet since the 1970s. It was while she attended a macrobiotic summer camp – called French Meadow – that she first became inspired to bake yeast-free breads that were better for the digestive system. French Meadow became the namesake for her first business, and she’s never looked back.

"An Uptown go-to for 30 years, French Meadow recently opened a second location on Grand Avenue in St. Paul."

Baking Management

Remember when bread was considered the staff of life? One Minneapolis-based bakery is doing everything in its power to return bread to the top of the food chain by manufacturing and marketing functional breads that are chock full of healthy ingredients.

Bread baking has been around for centuries, yet Lynn Gordon keeps coming up with innovations for her French Meadow Bakery in South Minneapolis.
